Coaching Career
Ryan's coaching career began in 1992 at Boston College, where he spent seven years as an assistant coach. He then worked as a defensive coordinator for Kansas State University from 2002 to 2005 and the University of Oklahoma from 2006 to 2009.
In 2010, Ryan was named the head coach of the Chicago Bears, leading the team for two seasons. After a brief stint as the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets in 2013, Ryan returned to college football as the head coach of the University of North Texas in 2014. He held this position until 2022, when he announced his retirement from coaching.
Playing Career
